In October – December 2021, the team of Robotikos mokykla held 3 events for students under the Erasmus + project “Think Inside the Box! A methodological STEAM toolkit for schools“.

During the events, the participants got acquainted with 3D modeling in SolidWorks and micro: bit programming, principles and application of Design Thinking. After the theoretical introduction, the students deepened their knowledge in practice and solved the main task of the event – to create the missing detail in the box, so that the ball entering the box would pass through the whole mechanism and fall out at the bottom of the box. This creative project, inspired by the Goldberg machine, is implemented in a team, develops STEAM skills and gives a lot of great impressions to the students who create it.

The three-day events took place in three places: Vilkaviškis district Pilviškiai Santaka Gymnasium, Vilnius J.Basanavičius Gymnasium and Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. A total of 64 students from grades 5-8 and 9-12 participated in the activities.

These events are part of the internal testing of the methodology. The teachers of Robotikos mokykla analyzed the students’ achievements and feedback during the sessions. Several changes were planned in the technical design of the box, and these changes were later presented to the project partners. The updated methodology will be shared with teachers from non-participating schools, who will then test the methodology with their students. This will implement external testing of the methodology and develop methodological guidelines for teachers.
